2006 Team Award Winners
Matt Campbell - Most Valuable Player
When you pitch for the Oaks for three years and do not lose a game, you win awards! Handing the ball to Matt has become the most reliable thing coach Espinoza can do. Not only did Matt win all his games in league, he also beat the Maxim Yankees in the Best of the West tournament and his start in the State Tournament. We are talking the model of consistency.
On the season, Matt was 10-0 with 74 strikeouts in 71 innings. His ERA was an impeccable 1.77! Congratulations to Matt for becoming the first two time winner of the MVP award!
Max Pinto - Tony Mak Award
This award is given annually to the player who would have most made Tony Makjavich proud. By this, we're talking about a person who demonstrates leadership, hustle, and determination. Max Pinto works harder than anyone to become a better ball player. He hussles everywhere he goes. He plays the game the way Tony surely would have been proud...I know I am.
His stats on the season were excellent, compiling a batting average over .300, leading the team in runs scored (29), triples (5), walks (19), and tying for stolen bases. You add that type of productivity to Max's outfield play and hussle...and you have the 2006 Tony Mak Award winner.
